Mace Richard and Cruz Waite (top) were born to Shamay Bartlett on 8/13/09 at 4:40 am and 4:50 am. Mace weighed 6 lbs 3 oz and was 19.5 inches. Cruz weighed 6 lbs and was 19.5 inches. Welcome, Mace and Cruz!

Levi Grey Clayson (above) was born to Danielle Clayson on 9/16/09 at 9:29 AM. He weighed 8 lbs 5 oz and was 19 1/2 inches. Welcome, Levi!

Fiona Rae Graff (middle) was born to Talia Graff on 10/26/09 at 7:33 am. She weighed 7lbs 15 oz and was 19 inches. Welcome, Fiona!

Twins, Abigail Marie and Alexis Louise Coleman (middle) were born to Stephanie Coleman on 11/2/09 at 1:42 am and 1:51 am. Abigail weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and was 20 inches. Alexis weighed 5 lbs 13 oz and was 19 3/4 inches. Welcome, Abigail and Alexis!

Hats Off To You

Throughout the year we have been encouraging the Van Maren Ward Relief Society sisters to set and pursue goals. This particular Enrichment Night was our Accomplishment Banquet to recognize the sisters for their efforts they put towards those goals. It was a very enjoyable evening and well attended. We just had to say...Hats Off to You! Our Enrichment Committee prepared a tasty chicken dinner with salad, rice and fruit. Dessert was a yummy berry cobbler. Fay Twiford donated one of her fantastic quilts for a raffle drawing. Melissa Whitten was the lucky winner. We had three wonderful speakers that evening, Jan Cox, Carol Warner and Maureen Byington. Thank you to everyone who participated with food, goals, talents, hats, etc...

New Relief Society Sister - Welcome Aubrey

We are so delighted to welcome Aubrey Bryan to Relief Society. Aubrey graduated from Del Campo High School this past week. Her birthday is August 27th. She is going to be 19 this year. She has 1 sister and 2 brothers. Her favorites: Food: Lasagna, Hobby: Singing-she's in the Valley Choral Society, Hymn: I Believe in Christ, Color: Hot Pink, Activity: Church Dances. Her plans include going to ARC and majoring in Sign Language Interpretation then transferring to BYU Idaho. Her mother, Sandi, says that Aubrey is her little hero, has a firm testimony and stands for the right!

Hansen Family Baby

As the Hansen family would put it.... they welcomed their final model, the all new 2009 Hansen. Baby Allison was born on Friday, May 15th at 11:27 AM. She weighed 9 lbs 5 oz and was 21 inches long. We are excited for the Hansen family. Proud siblings are Emily, Josh and Rachel. Welcome to the world, baby girl!

8 Cow Enrichment Meeting

Are you curious? Remember Johnny Lingo? This is a clever theme for a fun enrichment meeting. The play on words reference some of the fun activities developing throughout the evening. It begins with grazing (dinner) and moves on to other surprises. Please plan to come and be with us for fun and laughter - and some important stuff too. There will be a children's class if you need to bring your kiddies. Invite one of your visiting teaching sisters or a friend to accompany you. Dinner begins at 6:30 on Thursday, May 21st.

Stake Enrichment Activity

We had a wonderful Enrichment event put on by the Stake this past Saturday. The theme was "CTR - Choose the Reward." Everyone had their choice of four mini classes to attend on topics such as Panty Cooking, Music, Literature, and Joy in the Journey. Linda Hicks spoke to the general assembly of women, after which we enjoyed a delicious lunch.

~ ~ ~ ~ 5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE ~ ~ ~ ~ Submitted by Lois Stevenson

4 tablespoons flour

4 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cocoa

1 egg

3 tablespoons milk

3 tablespoons oil

3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)

A small splash of vanilla extract

1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate.

Preparedness Workshop

Come learn about Home Gardening. A free community workshop hosted by the Citrus Heights Stake Preparedness Committee will beheld on Saturday May 9th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Oak Avenue building. Mini class workshops will be held. Topics are: Growing more food in less space (container gardening); Happy, healthy garden with less water (drought watering methods); 4 Season Harvest (what to plant and when to plant it); Acorns to Lawn Weeds (identifying and eating wild foods); From Seed to Harvest (the basics of gardening); Soils, Companion Planting and Plants that Repel Pests (taught by our resident ward gardener, Jan Cox). Booths will be open from 10-2 with information on gardening and other preparedness related topics from local businesses, the City of Citrus Heights and other members of our community. Seating in the classes is limited so please be flexible as there may be many people trying to attend the same class.

Relief Society Enrichment & Birthday Celebration

We had a wonderful time at our Relief Society Birthday Celebration. Our Enrichment Committee did an awesome job with decorations, food and program. We enjoyed a delicious ham dinner with potato bar, salad, and birthday cake. We then were favored to hear Karen Clements and Dana Tidwell sing. Margo Voyce, Kathleen Harte, Sonia Weaver and Jennilyn Dumm shared their thoughts on what Relief Society met to them. To top it off we played a fun gift exchange game. Our birthday celebration was complete with presents. Laura McAlister wrote a cute story and read it to us as we passed the gifts back and forth. We had 65 sisters in attendance. Thanks for everyone who came and made it a such great evening!
